10/03/10: Expansion of the Holborn Business Improvement District into Bloomsbury and St Giles
The Holborn BID was renewed and expanded by ballot of businesses with a rateable value in excess of A#60K. All businesses within the extended area and with a rateable value in excess of A#60K will be subject to a levy of 0.9% of their rateable value from April 2010 for the next 5 years. Organisations with charity status will receive the same discount as they get with business rates.
Importantly the BID extension takes in much of the south of Bloomsbury and the St Giles area and if handled properly can be of benefit to everyone who lives or works in the area.

Traders from Bloomsbury Village, the area south of the British Museum, have formed a Regeneration and Marketing Group to consider ways to implement improvements to the streetscape and encourage new business into the area, particularly quality Crafts manufacturers and suppliers.
