The London Borough of Camden Clear Zones strategy is seeking to improve air quality and reduce vehicle emissions by making walking conditions safer, more pleasant, and more efficient. As part of the research of the Clear Zones project, Camden commissioned Space Syntax to develop design proposals for a new public place at Princes Circus. The proposals aim to turn what is currently an unpleasant traffic junction into a new, well-used route between north Covent Garden and Bloomsbury. WHAT HAPPENED?

The West End Company

Thank you for your recent email updating us on the very important work being undertaken by the West End Drug Partnership and St Giles Reference Group. As you are no doubt aware, New West End Company was formed four years ago with a vision to revitalise London's West End. One of our key strategies is a safer and cleaner District. In July 2002 we launched two pilot schemes, the Red Caps and Clean Team who in addition to the Metropolitan Police and Westminster City Council own policing and cleansing services, provide an enhanced level of customer service, sense of safety and street management. I hope you will continue to keep us updated on your Association's progress. Should you wish to learn more about New West End Company, please visit our web site at www.newwestend.com or call me direct on 0207 976 1141. Jace Tyrrell Marketing & PR Manager
